I got this from Crystal blog. I thought I would answer them as well
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
I love Egg Nog. How can you go wrong especially with lots of brandy or spice rum.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Growing up we didn’t wrap gifts. They would be laid out in front of our fireplace.
3. Colored lights or white on tree/house?
Hmm, I like to mix it up the candles in the Menorah. I go for some type of patterns. This year purple, yellow, purple, yellow and the shamus was yellow. You never have enough cool colors. I also get the pretty tapered ones which are all the same color.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No I don’t even know what it is? Is it any piece of greenery or is it something specfic http://www.answers.com/topic/mistletoe
5. When do you put your decorations up?
I keep my menorah out all year but put candles in a couple of weeks before.
There was no number 6
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
It is not my favorite but when I was in second grade our house caught on fire. It’s really the only that stands out.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I never did. It never made sense to me. How could one guy get to so many people all on one night. I asked my mother why would parents lie to their children about who the gifts came from. I once had a boss’s wife say she pitied me because I never believed. I still can’t believe kids still believe after kindergarten.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
I open gifts when I get them. We got most of our gifts on the first night. Usually one big gift.
10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him?
None but I prefer my latkes with apple sauce. Not a big fan of sour cream
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
Another thing I don’t get why is it so important for snow on Christmas not like there is a lot of snow in Israel. Here in Boston we on have snow one in four years.
12. Can you ice skate?
Love to ice skate. When I was little we use to go skating at Cincinnati Gardens on most days off of school in the Winter. I also took skating in College and learned to do fancy stuff.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I have had so many great ones.
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
I like going out looking at Christmas Lights
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Stollen, when I was little I use to pick out the fruit and nuts I liked

Making latkes. Chinese food and going to the movies.
18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving presents?
Giving I do try to spend some time getting good gifts
19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol?
Rock of Ages
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
I prefer chocolate
For some reason I was unable to log in over the weekend and just now able to catch up,
I also up graded to IE 7.0, for all the trouble I don't see any neat new stuff with it.
Yesterday I went to two terrific parties and of course ate and drank way too much. I made this awesome Chocolate Ginger Truffle tart. I had made it about 10 years ago and thought it was time to bring it back. It came from Charlie Trotter’s book Cooking Sessions http://www.charlietrotters.com/. The recipe called for a Pear Caramel Sauce which I didn’t make.
I now have ginger simple syrup left over. I have to figure a good martini to make with that—any suggestions?
Today I went to see the play Wings of Desire http://www.amrep.org/wings/ the play not the movie. I know some of you are saying huh what. Yes they made it into a play. I have always loved the movie. If you hadn’t seen the movie the play would make no sense at all. I thought it was pretty bad. The only thing I like about it was the trapeze parts. This woman played the trapeze artists made it look so beautiful and very sexy.
Randomly I saw a link to Breakfast at Tiffany and looked up the link to the quoteshttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/quotes. If you love this movie you have to look at the list.
Some of my favorites
Holly Golightly: Did I tell you how divinely and utterly happy I am?
Paul Varjak: Yes.
Holly Golightly: You could always tell what kind of a person a man thinks you are by the earrings he gives you. I must say, the mind reels.
Holly Golightly: But just look at the goodies she brought with her.
Paul Varjak: He's all right, I suppose, if you like dark, handsome, rich-looking men with passionate natures and too many teeth.
Last weekend the weather was so nice I decided to go for a walk. I ended up in my city’s town center. There must have been around 4 different Dollar stores. I decided I needed to check them out. Having never been in these dollar stores was I missing something?
Growing up we had 5 and Dimes. The name really doesn’t make sense shouldn’t hey have been called nickel and dime stores? In the little shopping center in my neighborhood where I grew up there were two 5 and Dime Murphy’s and Kresge. I remember going to Murphy’s and getting my first crafts, I bought my embroidery thread and yarn in their basements which was next to fish. I bought different color fishnet stockings and makeup, and watch bands to match all my outfits.
Some how walking in those Dollar stores didn’t remind me of Murphy’s at all. It just had a bunch of cheap stuff. It didn’t have the cool make up of my youth. It had random brands. It really didn’t have anything cool. The stores had this musty odor and you just wanted to wash your hands when you left.
Why does this town need five different dollar stores on the same street.
I all so passed a hobby shop that I had to walk in. A hobby shop is different than a craft store. A hobby shop, I learned is a store that has tiny solders and miniatures that allow you to build play wars. There were a lot of men in that store. I felt a little creepy.
So can a town center that has 4 dollar stores and a hobby store ever become trendy?
This weekend on TVLand they had a That Girl marathon. I have been watching different episodes all weekend long. When I was little I loved the show. The show was the first to show that a woman could live on her own without being married. Maybe I took the show to serious.
That Girl was on the Air from 1966 to 1971. In the pilot they had Harold Gould as her father. He was Rhoda Morgenstern’s father. It was changed because they felt it would appear as too “New York Ethnic” for most of the rest of America . Which really meant they thought people would assume she was Jewish.
Ann Marie may not have lived at home but she always had men to help her out of any situation. She always had the same boyfriend, Donald, and everyone knows they never had sex, the network had to make sure he left every night. Even though other people were experiencing the Summer of Free Love, Ann and Donald some how missed out on it.
Some people I have talked with thought Donald was goofy and way beneath Ann. I thought they had their own strong relationship, especially without the sex. They actually acted more like a modern married couple with a strong respect and knowledge of each other. Bewitched which was on at the same time showcased a man who had problems coming to terms with his wife’s power.
Just like Carrie on Sex in the City, Ann was one city girl who always wore the latest fashions and you wondered how she could afford it. She dressed very mod but never very hippie. I don’t think she wore jeans.
They never got married on the series not even at the end because Marlo Thomas thought it wasn’t needed.
Just as a time frame:
1965 I Dream of Jeannie
1964 Bewitched
1966 That Girl
1970 Mary Tyler Moore
1998 Sex in the City
My email box has been swamped with spam. I have gotten all types even ones that make it look like I sent emails that bounced back. Of course you can’t really open any of them to check to see where the spam is coming from. I thought I would try a test. I changed my email address at Paulette Planet and the emails stopped. Now my email box looks so empty.
Over the weekend I had a chance to go to my old neighborhood. I was surprised to see that the old neighborhood had a lot of chain fences. For some reason when I lived there I never noticed them. They never popped out at me, but they were all over the place.
There is a new Mac commercial where the PC guy gives the Mac guy a C++ Gui Book. Okay I really don’t get it. Half of the people I know would want the book instead of the photo album. The other half doesn’t know what C++ is.
What are they trying to say that to use a PC you need to be able to program in C++. I sell software for people who program in C++ and I don’t know how to program. You don’t even need to know anything about DOS anymore to use a PC.
I really don’t understand the commercial.
I had a great Thanksgiving. This year one of my friend’s Mother ended up in the hospital the week before Thanksgiving. I offered to cook her family a Thanksgiving dinner. I know with her mother in the hospital and young children to take care of it would be hard for her to coordinate everything. I felt very guilty how good I felt helping. It turned out to be a delicious dinner.
Lately I haven’t feeling very creative. Feeling good about myself…but not creative. I am not writing very much, I have no knitting projects underway, and I am not feeling a lot of inspiration.
Very happy about the election! I was doing some calling for Call for Change. It exposed me to some different races I could follow last night as the returns were coming in.
It was interesting to see Donald Rumsfeld resign. I first thought, I am glad he didn’t do this yesterday or the Dems might not have taken over the house. But then I was listening to some people on NPR and they were saying Rumsfeld might have been afraid of what would happen when the Dems got control of congress and could subpoena him. He had to quit.
I would call this move as one to of the first positives to come from Dems taking over.
Today I spent the day making about 200 calls for MoveOn.org. They have it set up so you don’t even need to leave. You can use your weekend minutes on your cell phone and call from home. What a great way to spend a rainy cold Saturday. I called in different races across the US. I got people who were really nice on the phone and some that just hung up.
It is really hard to get people interested and to get people to show up at the polls. I spoke with one woman who said she was still undecided, I asked her if she wanted more information and she said no. There were quite a few people who said we need to kick the bums out.
Over the weekend I was watching some negative ads that other states are being forced to watch. Kerry Healy’s (who is running for Governor) last round of negative commercials backed fired on her. I don’t know if women can’t do negative commercials or if she misjudge the voters in this state.
So what are you doing to throw the bums out? I was calling into Zack Space’s http://www.zackspace.org/ Ohio district. He is the Dem that might win Bob Ney’s seat. He has only raised $200,000. There are a lot of candidates that could use $10. If you live in a state that has tight races, I hope you are working on someone’s campaign. And make sure everyone votes.
Some times you go through small stretches where you just don’t have time to write. I had holidays, my mother visiting me, dinners and parties. Next thing I know it’s been a while.
This year MoveOn has this program that you make phone calls from your home. Before free nights and weekends on your cell phone, political groups needed large phone banks to make calls for their candidates. Now with a script and a list on the internet you can make calls in your jammies. Call me old fashion; I remember the good old days when you got politically active to meet people not to stay home. Actually it was to meet people who could invite you to parties.
