Very happy about the election! I was doing some calling for Call for Change. It exposed me to some different races I could follow last night as the returns were coming in.
It was interesting to see Donald Rumsfeld resign. I first thought, I am glad he didn’t do this yesterday or the Dems might not have taken over the house. But then I was listening to some people on NPR and they were saying Rumsfeld might have been afraid of what would happen when the Dems got control of congress and could subpoena him. He had to quit.
I would call this move as one to of the first positives to come from Dems taking over.
Today I spent the day making about 200 calls for MoveOn.org. They have it set up so you don’t even need to leave. You can use your weekend minutes on your cell phone and call from home. What a great way to spend a rainy cold Saturday. I called in different races across the US. I got people who were really nice on the phone and some that just hung up.
It is really hard to get people interested and to get people to show up at the polls. I spoke with one woman who said she was still undecided, I asked her if she wanted more information and she said no. There were quite a few people who said we need to kick the bums out.
Over the weekend I was watching some negative ads that other states are being forced to watch. Kerry Healy’s (who is running for Governor) last round of negative commercials backed fired on her. I don’t know if women can’t do negative commercials or if she misjudge the voters in this state.
So what are you doing to throw the bums out? I was calling into Zack Space’s http://www.zackspace.org/ Ohio district. He is the Dem that might win Bob Ney’s seat. He has only raised $200,000. There are a lot of candidates that could use $10. If you live in a state that has tight races, I hope you are working on someone’s campaign. And make sure everyone votes.
